Here is a glossary of terms used in the world of newsgroups and their definitions. Feel free to contact us by mail for any questions.
Block account = Block plan = Pay-by-Download Plans
You buy a quota of GB that you can use when you want, no time limits, no renewal. Your subscription ends when your quota of GB used (Some leveled the use in a year).
Hybride Rate
Hybrid package. These unlimited plans Capps (limited) at a speed of 1Mbits. You can download an unlimited but limited to that speed. You can also have a monthly quota unlimited speeds in excess of that subscription. Few servers offer such packages (see Usenext).
NEWS
Also called articles, posts, news items, are electronic messages posted on this virtual network called Usenet.
NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol)
Transfer protocol used by Usenet as TCP / IP is used for the Internet.
Rétention
This is the time (in days) for which datas are stored on servers. You have to distinguish textual retention and binary retention. Textual retention is always much more important than binary retention. Currently the server offers a retention approaching 400 days !

Unlimited = Unlimited account = Unlimited plan = Unlimite DSL = Unlimited access
Unlimited package. Unlimited access on the announced period. Download anything you want. Warning, some servers limit the download speed despite unlimited access.
Usenet limited = Limited acount = Metered account = Monthly Plans
Package limited gigabytes. For example, you choose a package 20 GB per month. Be careful when you use your 20 GB many sites automatically renew the subscription, and uses your bank details already asked to make payment without you always ask for your opinion!
