Enrivonment :
Windows

Why :

Perhaps you ever faced this problem : forgetting your WEP or WAP key to connect to your WIFI network.
We propose you 3 solution, according to your configuration :

1. You own a computer that has already been connected to this WIFI connexion, and that has the WEP/WAP key recorded in star shape (*****) in Windows connexion tool
2. You have and know how to use your routeur/modem administration interface
3. You are not in case 1 or 2

Case 1 : A computer that has already been connected to the WIFI network

When a computer with windows connect to a wifi access point, it asks you for a WEP/WAP key (if needed). It's like a password to access to the network.
The key entered, it is automatically recoreded adhoc, on the computer. You can see, when you want to connect again to the network, it won't ask you for the network key, it will automatically connect.
Key is encrypted recorded and there is a tool to restore it.

Here is how to do :

1. Open your connexion interface of windows (usually through taskbar) :

cle1

2. Click then on 'Modifier les paramètres avancés' -> 'Modify advanced parameters'

cle2

3. In 'Configuration réseaux sans fil' tab ('wifi network configuration'') you should find the access point that you are looking for even if you're not close to it

cle3

4. Select it and ask for its properties

cle4

5. Key is here, encrypted recorded. Now please download this tool : Wireless Key Viewer
Launch WirelessKeyView.exe, et you'll get this :

cle5

And the decrypted key !

Case 2 : You kept your connexion ID to your router/modem

When your ISP sent your access code, he gave you a documentation with ID to connect to the administration interface of your routeur/modem. It allows you to configure wifi network for example.

This configuration has to be done online on some ISP (in France Free, Neuf,...) therefore, you've to be wired connected to internet.

Then, you've to connect your computer to your router/modem with a network cable, connect to your administration interface and change the WEP/WAP key.

Case 3 : You don't have any ID for your router/modem, and no computer that recently connected to the wifi network ?

Just one think to do : reboot your router/modem.

Each router/modem has a little button and you need a pointed stem to push it.

Once rebooted, you've to connect to the administration interface and use standard ID and password to log in. All password has been reset.
